Programs

“The Mission Beacon Center prepares youth mentally, physically and spiritually, nurturing young minds with education, support guidance and advocacy.  We promote social awareness, community engagement and cultural enrichment.  Working through a collaboration of community partners, we strengthen youth and families to empower our community.”

     

Youth Programming

  • Art Class
  • Basketball
  • Bike Club (Beginners & Advanced)
  • CARNAVAL (Seasonal): This is a spring club that performs at the annual Carnival Festival in the Mission District. 
  • Cesar Chavez Club: An urban art/mural painting class.
  • Cheerleading
  • Computer Class
  • CRN Outreach Activities: The Mission Community Response Network works with high risk youth; providing mentoring and case management.
  • Cuerpo Sano: Gateway to fitness; working to develop healthy lifestyles through education, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Fieldtrips: Providing weekly community field trips to expose our youth to the community and city-wide educational, artistic, and social justice events.
  • Flag Football
  • Gardening Class:  Science base club that focuses on the environment and how to maintain a garden.
  • Girls & Boys Group: Westside Community Services provides mentoring to high risk youth through gender specific discussion groups.
  • Girls For a Change: Works to inspire young girls to develop confidence and healthy relationships.
  • Girls Got Goals: Soccer league for girls.
  • Guitar Class: (Beginners & Advanced)
  • Homeys: Homies Organizing the Mission to Empower Youth works to promote cultural and political education to youth through education, art, and media.
  • Knitting
  • Loco Bloco: Stilt walking class
  • Salsa/Hip Hop
  • Skateboard Club
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Teatro: Promoting social justice through the art of theater.

 

Adult Programming

  • Adult & Faculty Basketball
  • All Islands As One: A mentoring group for Pacific Islanders.
  • Garden Collaborative: A collaboration of Everett staff, Beacon staff, youth, and community members who work on creating and maintaining our beautiful community garden.  
  • TOUCH Volleyball: Girls volleyball club where players receive leadership training
  • Triangle Martial Arts: LGBT Martial Arts class.

The Mission Beacon is now offering the following family support services:

  • Mission Beacon/ExCel Food Pantry: The Food Pantry is open to all families. Located inside    Everett Middle School every Thursday from 3:30-5:30 P.M.
  • Family Donation Locker: Open to all Beacon families. Pick up clothes, shoes, etc. for youth and adults. Donations are also welcomed.
  • Native American Parent Group: This is open to all Native American families; meeting are held monthly.
